What have I been doing over the summer.

Over the summer I have been doing work experience for a client, called Matt Sutton, he is a personal trainer who does a bootcamp training session. He needed a promotional video for his website, so he asked me to help him out. I decided to do some montage editing and added some Ken Burns aswell. I believe that this has helped me with planing my coursework, and has also made me realise how you need to plan for a customer and then you have to meet their expectations.

Also having recently watched S.A.L.T this has given me some inspiration for my product.

Location, Location, Location

After going out and looking and a few locations I have decided to use the opening of a building site, this may sound an odd location to film on but there are large concrete blocks. This will be the location for the drug dealing scene which will be filmed at night. You may think that filming at night time would be a problem but plan to use the light from my car, this will give a lot of light so the camera can pick it up but mainly this will look realistic with cars in the scene.

Inception Trailer

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziixLbLKBXU&hd=1

This is the url of the new thriller film called Inception. After watching this trailer I have got some good ideas that I can use and apply on my trailer. This trailer uses music the entire way through, it changes volume and also speed to fit with the trailer. I will also use this in my trailer and this will be conventional.

Another conventionIi have noticed is that it is full of cuts and is montage edited which means that my trailer does not have to have any chronological sequence. the main aim of this trailer is to give the audience a brief idea of the plot whilst also at the same time not giving away too much of the plot.

The use of big budget editing is something that I will not be able to achieve, but i will be taking some of their slow motion ideas and applying them to my trailer. Finally I will be going to watch this on the 16th of july when it is released to get more ideas for my trailer.

Idea !

After doing a proposal in our media lesson I have finally decided on an idea. I am going to create a 'teaser tralier' for a thriller genre film. The plot will be constructed around 'someone who sees too much', this will be a drug dealer who murderes one of his clients due to late payment. Then another client happens to see the murder as it was happening, the drug dealer spots the other client and thus knows that the client knows about the murder.

I am going to think very carefully about what I put into the trailer, as I do not want to give away too much of the plot so that the viewer knows the main part of the film. I am getting quite excited about this trailer and this is leading to my motivation being boosted. I will post some more initial idea soon.

Coursework breif

I am stuck between two ideas, I will either choose a music video or a teaser trailer of a film. I have chosen these as I believe that they are the most interesting and they will allow me to add a new piece to my portfolio to take to University interview.

I will research both areas of my chosen options, for example ' looking into conventions of music videos and film trailer. I will then need to plan who and what goes into it. After this I will have to plan my filming schedule to ensure that I meet the deadline. whilst keeping up to date with my blogs.

Depending on the option that I chose I will then have to decide on what locations I will film in. For this I will use some unique and different locations that will make my chosen option stand out from the rest.

Deciding on my coursework option

After looking at the options for my media coursework I have decided on option two. This is " A promotion package for a new film, to include a teaser trailer, together with two of the following three options" from these options I have chosen to do " a film magazine front cover, featuring the film." and also " a poster for a film ".

I believe that this will allow me to showcase all of the media techniques that I have learnt during AS media and also allow me to adopt some new techniques that I am going to learn in A2 media. Also as I want to carry on studying the production of media at university, I will be able to showcase my interest in the subject and also my ideas.
